At the sight of my first born son, I knew for certain I had made the right decision to give up my career. Three years later baby number two came along. My years were filled with indescribable joy. It was when my children reached school age that my little inner voice started to make itself heard.

Don't get me wrong, a quiet home was very nice during school hours but quite honestly, load after load of laundry and scrubbing floors and toilets just wasn't doing much for my self esteem. I knew I needed something of my own. Something that made me feel like I was worthy of more than housework and made me feel a sense of accomplishment. Maybe even contribute to the household income. I always made a decent living in my earlier years and I really wanted that feeling of having my own money again.

Knowing that I had been out of the corporate loop for far too long, I started to explore the idea of a home based business. After months of searching the Internet and yielding results that I deemed unsuitable for all the time that would be invested, I looked to myself. I had always been very crafty and loved the idea of making and selling my own products. I tried one stroke painting but quickly found that monetary compensation was quite low in comparison to the time spent on creating.

One evening my husband came in from work with a magazine in hand. Mentioning in passing that it was just something he picked up on the lunch table at his place of employment but thought it may be of interest to me. I served dinner and as we ate I began to thumb through this interesting little magazine that was jam packed with tools of the metal trade, specifically for hand scrolling steel. They even provided color photos of completed projects such as plant holders and hangers, clocks, wall art etc. Well let me tell you, my mind started reeling! I could do this and absolutely loved the idea! With my husband having worked in the metal industry for over twenty five years, I had all the help I needed.

After much needed convincing, my husband purchased all of the tools he thought we would require to get my hobby started and sent me off onto the most incredible journey I have experienced in my life! I am now handcrafting children's table and chair sets with my husband by my side. Every item I create is a work of art and truly takes my breath away when I see the completed piece. I have found my place as a children's furniture designer and it is truly my passion!
